Why I Love My Chevy Bolt EUV: The Perfect Balance of Value, Efficiency, and Fun

- Best Priced EVs
And now, after months of driving, I can confidently say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. The Bolt EUV strikes a perfect balance between affordability, range, and comfort while offering an enjoyable driving experience. It proves that going electric doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated.
Affordable Without Compromise
One of the biggest reasons I love my Bolt EUV is its value. When it comes to EVs, many people assume you have to spend $50,000+ to get a decent range, technology, and comfort. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV defies that expectation. Starting at around $28,000 before incentives, it’s one of the most budget-friendly EVs on the market, yet it doesn’t feel “cheap” in any way.
For that price, I get an estimated 247 miles of range, which is more than enough for daily driving and even longer road trips with some planning. It also qualifies for federal and state incentives, bringing the cost down even further. When factoring in gas savings and lower maintenance costs, it’s easily one of the most cost-effective vehicles I’ve ever owned.
A Surprisingly Fun Drive
One of the biggest surprises about the Bolt EUV is how fun it is to drive. The instant torque from the electric motor makes acceleration quick and responsive. It’s not a performance car by any means, but it’s zippy and smooth, perfect for city driving and highway cruising alike.
The one-pedal driving feature is another game-changer. Instead of constantly switching between the brake and accelerator, I can simply ease off the accelerator to slow down and even come to a complete stop. It not only makes driving easier but also helps maximize range through regenerative braking.
Comfort and Space in a Small Package
I opted for the EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle) version of the Bolt because I wanted a bit more interior space, and it has delivered in spades. Though slightly larger than the standard Bolt EV, it’s still compact enough to maneuver easily in tight spaces.
Inside, the cabin feels modern and comfortable. The seats are supportive, and the rear legroom is surprisingly spacious for a vehicle of this size. Unlike many EVs that go for a minimalist interior, the Bolt EUV keeps a balance—there’s a large touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but also physical buttons for climate control, making it easy to adjust settings without digging through menus.
Tech That Enhances the Drive
Chevrolet didn’t skimp on technology, even at this price point. The 10.2-inch infotainment screen is bright and responsive, and the wireless CarPlay and Android Auto integration means I don’t have to mess with cables.
One of the standout features is Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driving system. While it’s only available on certain highways, it’s incredibly useful for long drives, reducing fatigue and making road trips more relaxing.
No More Gas Station Stops
I used to dread stopping at gas stations—especially in winter. With my Bolt EUV, that’s no longer a concern. I simply charge at home overnight, and every morning, I have a “full tank.” On longer trips, public charging is getting easier and more accessible, and apps like PlugShare and ChargePoint make planning effortless.
A Future-Proof Choice
With states moving toward stricter emissions regulations and automakers shifting toward electric models, going electric now just makes sense. The Bolt EUV proves that an EV can be affordable, practical, and fun, all while reducing my carbon footprint.
While Chevy is discontinuing the Bolt lineup in its current form, I’m hopeful that future models will continue to build on its success. But for now, I’m thrilled with my Bolt EUV—it’s everything I need in an EV and more.
If you’re considering going electric, I highly recommend taking a Chevy Bolt EUV for a test drive. You might be just as surprised as I was at how much car you get for the price!
